A bit like the pot full of gold coins located at the foot of the rainbow: as we try to reach the beginning of the rainbow, this moves, but what matters is not the finishing line, what’s what is the Way towards the Light. To many it will seem a waste of time, but those who take certain paths and, look back from time to time, will always welcome the road traveled, and endless though it may seem, the road in front will be thus less and less a burden. Although the Pot of Gold moves forward, along the way you can still collect wonderful flowers and fruits. So is with stars. Gradually, thanks to the extraordinary technological tools at our disposal, we understand a little more about what happens outside our planet, the mystery continues to thicken, and the spectacular photographs of planets and distant galaxies tell us that we are surrounded by beauty and that if man uses his free will and intelligence to spoil the beauty of Mother Nature, he is only looking for trouble.
Since everything is in some way tied to everything else, there are also links between us and the stars. This is not to say that people born under the sign of the wolf must be careful to Porpora Spinosa. For sure, the ancients believed firmly in the zodiac influences, moreover, even without optical instruments, they had the astronomical knowledge at the highest level. It does not matter whether I believe in these influences. With great respect of studies carried out over thousands of years, I have dealt with the signs of the Zodiac with the same readiness of mind that I have in front of a sign of an ancient and unknown culture: I let that sign speak to me. I know that many students of the zodiac and horoscopes will call this attitude indifference, but that’s okay. Whilst it may be that the course of my future days is already written in the stars, well, even if it were possible, I would not read it anyway, I would run the risk of having no more fun in the game of life. And if, on the other hand, knowing the forces of the past and future attractions, I could change what the future had in store for me, I do not know to what extent it would be correct for me to violate the drawings established by all those stars. In short, I like to let myself be enchanted by the beauty, and Mother Nature is really generous with Beauty and Harmony. It is the man who invented ugliness and hell.
I am an artist, and I do not care if this is so due to my decision, the stars’ decision or whatnot. My ambition is that, after my passing, the world is a little better than I found it, and I hope that this ambition is shared widely. Only Art can save the world, I am deeply convinced. A purely mechanical technology is a curse as well as a Zodiac intended as a rough enormous clock would merely be a complex and silly toy.
