Obviously, there is not one answer. Indeed, if there were only one answer, the stones would immediately cease to be precious. "Preciousness" is a "qualitative" characteristic, and therefore not exhaustible in words which, by their nature, are more "quantitative". But words can count fairy tales, create atmospheres, induce moods, build mental images, accompany dreams, so everyone will find their answers.
Domande e risposte che si inseguono, si aggrovigliano le une nelle altre, fino a che non si capisce se sono le domande che cercano risposte, o, le risposte, domande. Per scriverlo ho impiegato più di dieci anni e, come quasi tutti i miei lavori, sarà perennemente incompiuto. Forse, è bene così, perché se esistesse una sola risposta a ogni domanda, il nostro bel pianeta sarebbe più arido della luna.
